ISIS Attack Kills Four Syrian Security Personnel West of Raqqa
A ministry statement said an Internal Security Forces checkpoint in Raqqa was hit by a terrorist attack, resulting in four deaths and two injuries. Security forces managed to neutralize one Daesh member and are continuing to search the area for any remaining attackers.
Monday’s assault was the second against the same checkpoint in two days; a similar attack occurred on Sunday, during which an attacker was killed, according to the ministry.
Earlier, a news agency cited an unnamed security source reporting that four security personnel died in an attack on the al-Sabahiya checkpoint west of Raqqa. Military police units were deployed afterward to secure the area.
ISIS sleeper cells remain active in the region, which the group controlled in 2014 before being expelled three years later by a US-led coalition. The area later came under the control of the YPG/SDF before the Syrian Army recently regained authority.
